“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want” (Philippians 4:12).
Yesterday, I taught my children this verse, and explained that You have already given us everything we need to be happy. I don’t need the latest iPhone, or another outfit, or a newer car. I don’t need better health, or more obedient children. I don’t need a better job, or a better marriage, to be happy. You have already given me everything I need to be happy.
Lord, thank You for all the blessings in my life. My home, my family, my things. For my church, my community. For the love in my life, for the abundance in my life.
Thank You also for the lack in my life. Thank You for the petty arguments that teach me to grow in compassion and tolerance, and perspective. Thank You for the suffering that teaches me to grow in patience. Thank You for the trials that teach me to grow in perseverance. Thank You for the distractions in my life that teach me to be flexible in my goals. Thank You for everything that teaches me to rely on You.
